Family Support Services

One of the biggest challenges facing caregivers is the emotional and physical toll of caring for an individual with disabilities. Family Support Services (aka Respite) provide caregivers a much-needed break either in or out-of-home.

In-home support gives families the convenience of having TERI staff supervise and engage the individual with special needs in their daily routine and activities. Siblings will also be supervised if needed.

Out-of-home support is a very popular social and recreational program for all ages.  Community outings can include visits to the TERI equestrian center, local parks, bowling, trampoline parks, etc.  Participants can also utilize the TERI fitness center, scheduled music classes, games and arts and crafts.

Four social clubs operate based on ages
  • Club Jubilee (ages 3 through 8):  Music, movement, and a sensory program.

  • Grasshopper Group (ages 3 through 8):  Equestrian program, games, and art.

  • Boys & Girls Night Out Club (ages 12 through 22): Developing friendships through support, recreation, fitness, and activities in the community.

  • Young Adult Group (ages 23 through 30):  Developing friendships through support, recreation, fitness, and activities in their local community.

Respite care support services are funded by the San Diego Regional Center or by parent tuition.
