Transportation
TERI operates a fleet of vehicles transporting our students between Residential, Family Support Services, Center for the Arts, Choices for Adult Learning (CAL), Learning Academy, and The Country School. The Transportation Department relies on drivers from Center for the Arts, CAL, and the residential homes to cover van runs from time to time. Our California DMV Employer Testing Program (ETP) allows TERI to conduct behind-the-wheel training on-site for staff, enabling increased efficiencies and on-site testing. Two TERI staff members are certified by the California DMV to conduct this testing.
Safety & Sustainability: How TERI’s Upgraded Fleet Enhances Protection & Efficiency
TERI prioritizes safety and efficiency with rigorous vehicle inspections before each run and weekly in-house checks. All Residential, Center for the Arts, Choices for Adult Learning, The Learning Academy, and The Country School vehicles are equipped with GPS and Samsara dash cameras—generously donated by Samsara with each new vehicle acquisition. These cameras detect harsh events like driver distraction or texting, while small alerts notify drivers of speeding or seatbelt compliance. GPS tracking optimizes routes for efficiency.
With strategic program adjustments, TERI’s fleet now travels fewer miles, reducing environmental impact. Additionally, where possible, 15-passenger vans have been replaced with 8-passenger vehicles to conserve energy and lower costs.
